Baccaurea bracteata
$30.00
The enceriat fruit (Baccaurea bracteata), frequently referred to as tampui darah (blood tampui) or tampui paya (swamp tampui), is a rare exotic fruit species native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia that grows wild, particularly within peat swamp ecosystems or swamp forests in Sumatra and Borneo.
The most striking uniqueness of this rambai relative lies in its vibrant red to purplish flesh, which resembles the color of blood and is hidden behind a thick, hard, brownish outer rind.
When split open, the juicy flesh of the tampui darah offers a highly refreshing blend of sour and sweet flavors. Today, as their natural habitat continues to shrink, the existence of the tampui darah tree is increasingly threatened and rare, making it a highly valuable seasonal fruit with a nostalgic appeal that is becoming harder to find in the open market
