Baccaurea racemosa
The menteng fruit (Baccaurea racemosa), also frequently called kepundung, is an exotic local fruit related to the rambai and tampui whose outer appearance at first glance closely resembles the duku fruit.
Beneath its rind, which ranges from yellowish-green to reddish in color, lies a juicy flesh encasing the seeds, offering a highly refreshing, predominantly sour flavor profile with a subtle hint of sweetness.
Historically, the trees grew in great abundance and fertility, particularly in the Jakarta region—inspiring the naming of the elite neighborhood "Menteng"—but unfortunately, the existence of this nostalgic seasonal fruit is now increasingly rare and is gradually becoming difficult to find in the market
