Litsea garciae
The kalangkala fruit (Litsea garciae) is a seasonal exotic fruit native to Borneo—particularly popular within the culinary traditions of the Banjar community—featuring a unique appearance with bright pink skin and a green calyx at its base.

Similar to the dabai or kembayau fruit, kalangkala is not consumed directly from the tree; instead, it must first be soaked in warm salted water until the flesh softens.

Once prepared, its soft-textured interior offers a rich, incredibly creamy flavor akin to an avocado, making it a highly favored side dish to accompany rice and salted fish among locals, despite its increasingly rare existence today
