Mangifera torquenda
Asam putar (Mangifera torquenda) is an endemic mango relative of Borneo that is highly unique due to its unusual method of consumption—namely, by twisting it until the flesh separates from the pit, much like cutting an avocado in half.
The fruit has a round shape and turns yellowish-green when ripe, featuring a relatively thick skin that is nevertheless easy to peel or slice crosswise.
Beneath its unique nature, asam putar offers bright yellow flesh with a soft, fibrous texture and a highly refreshing, distinct combination of sour and sweet flavors, making it a tropical rainforest germplasm asset that is highly prized by the local community
