Nephelium maingayi
The redan fruit (Nephelium maingayi) is an exotic wild fruit typical of Borneo that is closely related to the rambutan, kapulasan, and maritam.
Its most striking difference lies in its rind, which does not feature long hairs, but is instead covered in very short, dense, and rough-textured blunt bumps or spines that are green when young and turn bright yellow to reddish when ripe.
Beneath its eccentric rind, the redan fruit possesses translucent white flesh that offers a refreshingly sweet taste with a hint of tartness, making it a highly sought-after prize for locals deep within the interior forests when fruiting season arrives
