Nephelium mutabile
The kapulasan fruit (Nephelium mutabile) is a tropical fruit typical of Southeast Asia that is closely related to the rambutan, yet features a rugged and more robust appearance.

Its rind tends to be thicker and harder, covered in stiff, short, blunt spines—rather than the soft hairs found on a typical rambutan.

When ripe, the kapulasan fruit turns a deep purplish-red or dark maroon, revealing a translucent white flesh that tastes remarkably sweet and refreshing, and separates much more easily from its seed (ngelotok)
