Willughbeia spp.
The gitak fruit (Willughbeia spp.), also known in some regions of Borneo as kubal or jantak, is a unique exotic fruit that does not grow on upright trees, but rather on woody climbing vines (lianas) in the interior tropical rainforests of Borneo.

The name "gitak" itself is derived from a local language, referring to the characteristic of the fruit's rind, which yields an abundance of thick, milk-white sap when picked or peeled.

Beneath its elastic and sap-laden rind lies a soft, juicy, bright orange or yellow flesh adhering to its seeds, offering a highly refreshing and distinct sweet-and-sour flavor sensation.

As a seasonal wild fruit, the gitak fruit has now become increasingly rare due to the depletion of natural forests, making it one of Borneo's highly valuable germplasm treasures that is deeply missed by jungle culinary enthusiasts
